CHARGE OF ESPIONAGE

SINGAPORE, October 31
After a six-day preliminary inquiry Mamuro Shinozaki, the Japanese who was charged under the Official Secrets Ordinance with obtaining or attempting to obtain military information, was committed to the assizes for trial. The accused reserved his defence. His lawyer declared that information obtained by Shinozaki was of no real value to any foreign Power and could easily have been obtained by anyone.
