NEGLIGENCE CASE
CAR COLLIDED WITH HORSE

AUCKLAND, October 31
Alfred Beard Talbot, aged 43, found guilty of negligent driving of a motorcar, causing injury, and Norman Harrison, aged 33, found guilty of failing to stop and render assistance after an accident at Kumeu, when a horse ridden by a boy was struck and killed, came before - his Honour Mr. Justice Fair in the Supreme Court for sentence.
Dealing with Talbot, the Judge said the main feature he. had to consider was.that the prisoner had aggravated the offence by attempting to shift the blame on to Harrison. He ,was sentenced to three months' imprisonment.
Regarding Harrison, the Judge said the jury's verdict had raised a question of law which should be discussed between the Crown Prosecutor and counsel for the prisoner. The Judge remanded the prisoner for two weeks.
