GALLOPS AT AWAPUNI

Awapuni horses engaged at the Rangitikei Meeting on Saturday were given their final gallops yesterday morning under favourable conditions. The weather was cold, but the going, with the flags on the outside of the course proper, was surprisingly good. Aurora's Star, assisted by Waimutu over the last six, ran seven furlongs in lmin 36sec.

Royal Sign sprinted five furlongs in lmin Sssec, and Rhodes and Rose Acre covered the last three of six furlongs in 40sec.

Selkirk and Half Crown kept together over half a mile, the last three furlongs in 40 2-ssec, and Gold Bridge worked effortlessly over five in lmin 11 l-ssec.

Tau-uru and Wildfire sprinted five furlongs, being together at the finish after taking lmin 9£sec. Dv Maurier worked well over seven furlongs, coming home from the five in lmin 9sec. Brazil, an acceptor for the Hurdles, accomplished a. similar task in better than lmin 9sec.

Old Bill sprinted the last five of six furlongs in lmin 9sec. All Quiet was kept up to her work to cover five in lmin 82-sec.

Sir Rabbi and Colerica were together and going well at the end of half a mile in 55sec, breaking 40sec for the last three. .

Laughing Duchess (Miss White) gave a good exhibition in a schooling effort over four hurdles, and Kincora (P. Rae) and Corroboree (Miss White) jumped cleanly in a similar task.
