TRIBUTE TO TENANTS
"The tenants at the new State houses at Khandallah are.a good class of citizen and a very welcome acquisition to the community," said Mr. M. S. Galloway at the annual meeting of the Khandallah Progress Association. Mr. Galloway commented favourably on the new school at Cashmere and other improvements in the district.
The following executive committee was elected for the ensuing year:— Messrs. M. S. Galloway (president). H. Desborough (vice-president), J. A. Orr, C. Quinn, A. W. Hill, C. French, R. H. Parton, R. Trewheellar, and W. E. Barker (secretary-treasurer). Mr. T. K. Henderson was re-elected hon. auditor.
A resolution in favour of initiating a local effort in support of the Home Guard was carried unanimously, and a committee representing the association and returned soldiers was set up as follows:—Messrs. H. Desborough (chairman), R. Brown, J. P. Corder, T. K. Henderson, C. Hogg, and C. Robinson. Enrolling depots have been established at the Town Hall and at Cashmere School.
