VICEREGAL.
The Governor-General and Lady Galway, attended by Captain Lord Dormer, A.D.C., left Wellington by air this morning for the South Island, where .their Excellencies will pay farewell visits to the principal cities.
Dr. C. G. Morice has returned from Australia, where he spent some time in New South Wales and Queensland.
Mr. ■H. M. Patrick has been elected parents' representative on the Wellington Colleges Board of Governors in place of Mr. W. H. Denton, who did not seek re-election. He is a member of the executive committee of the Wellington East Girls' College Parents' Association, and has had a wide experience both in Wellington and other centres on various public bodies. For some time he was chairman of the. Auckland provincial district national health camps, and for many years officers' representative on the Post and Telegraph Promotion Board. Mr. Patrick was made a member of the Royal Victorian Order in recognition of his services as transport officer to the Duke of Gloucester during his tour of New Zealand.
Colonel R. A. Row, D.5.0., N.Z.S.C., who has been officer commanding the: Central Military District since January of this year, will leave for Auckland tonighWto take up his appointment as commander of the Northern Field Force! under the expanded Territorial organisation. He- will be succeeded at Wellington by Brigadier N. McD. Weir, N.Z.S.C., formerly Officer Commanding the Northern Military District. Mr. C. E. Moran has been appointed the representative of the Lower Hutt Chamber upon the council of the Wellington Chamber of Commerce. Mr. F. H. Bass, secretary of Tasman Airways, Ltd., has left by air for a brief business visit to Australia. Mr. F. G. Farrell, president of the Automobile Association - (Auckland) and Mr. A. Grayson, a member of the council, arrived at Wellington today on North Island Motor Union business. Mr. D. F. McKay, deputy chairman of the Order of St John, Auckland, and the Rev. G. E. Moretou, a member of the Auckland executive, arrived today to attend a meeting of the Commandery of the Order. Mr. D. Hoiderness, superintendent of the Auckland Harbour Board, arrived at Wellington by train today.
