Labour Night Ball. The annual ball of the Moera branch of the New Zealand Labour Party, held in the Horticultural Hall at Lower Hutt on Monday evening, came as a gay and enjoyable ending to a day oa which so many holiday plans were literally "washed out." In the large hall, where the stage had been effectively decorated, the many pretty frocks of the dancers created a cheerful scene enlivened by the music of an excellent orchestra. Supper, in relays to accommodate the large attendpnee, which numbered over 300, was served in the small hall. The guests of honour, the Hon. Waltei Nash and Mrs. Nash and Mr. H. E. Combs, M.P., were received by the president, Mr. J. H. Dunn, and Mrs. Dunn. Mrs. Nash was wearing a lovely gown of copper brocaded with gold and a squirrel wrap, and Mrs. Dunn's frock was of black georgette worn under a smart i matching velvet jacket. The committee and helpers included the secretary, Mrs. E. Douglas, Mesdames J. H. Dunn, A. E. Sergent, W. Nicholls, H. Fairclough, F. Moore, R. Sukroo, F. M. Cook, A. Benson, and W. Hall, and Messrs.
