AMERICAN NAVY
DEPARTURE OF DEPENDANTS
WILL TAKE SOME TIME
MANILA, October 21. The Commander-in-Chief of the United States Asiatic Fleet, Admiral Hart, announced that the evacuation of wives and dependants of naval men throughout Asia, including the Philippines, would take a considerable time because of lack of shipping. He said that the evacuation from the Philippines was not due to special developments but was merely because the navy was unable to discriminate between personnel stationed anywhere in the Far East.
An Army spokesman said that there would be no evacuation of dependants of army men from the Philippines.
