NO INTERRUPTION

SERVICES IN ST. PAUL'S

(Received October 12, 9 a.m.)

LONDON, October 11

Despite the damans caused by the bomb which fell -through the roof of St. Paul's Cathedral, the weekday and Sunday services are not being interrupted and are being held in St. Faith's Chapel crypt. A service was held ten hours after the bombing. There were 40 present, including the A.R.P. workers at the Cathedral. Clergy and members of the staff of the Cathedral and their families were sleeping in the crypt when the bomb fell. The Cathedral treasurer, Canon Alexander, said:' "My bed was almost under the altar. I thought the raid was over. Suddenly there was a great thump -and the whole building shook tremendously. We rushed up and were horrified with what we saw."

A preliminary report made, by a surveyor confirms that the fabric'of the Cathedral is not affected.. Pieces of paper which were immediately stuck across suspicious cracks did not reveal any deviations.
