AWARDS FOR PLAY
"REP" BLAZERS
Details regarding appearances by Wellington players in representative matches were supplied by Mr. G. F. Jackson at this week's meeting of the Wellington Rugby Union's management committee. Two players, A. T. Dance (St. Patrick's College O.B.) and A. C. McCarthy (Petone) had now played the requisite number of A games to entitle them to receive blazers. Dance had played in ten games—four last season and six this season —and McCarthy had played in eleven—four last season and seven this season. Mr. Jackson's recommendation that blazers J be awarded, with authority for dating for 1939, was adopted. Eleven players were entitled to have 1940 inscribed on blazers already awarded. They were:—F. J. Cassidy (Hutt), J. Gunn (Athletic), T. F. Hegglun (Poneke), A. C. Kenny (Johnsonville), C. O'Halloran (Athletic) C. M. Ongley (Poneke), J. M. Taylor (Wellington), L. R. Thomas (Onslow), E. L. Todd (St. Patrick's College O.B), R. C. Veitch (Wellington), and A. H. Wright (Wellington College O.B.), The necessary authority was given. The following twelve players had not yet played the requisite number of games to qualify for blazers: —H. D. Baird (Poneke), 1 game this season; J. P. Gillespie (Marist Bros. O.B.), 3 games this season; R. J. Kemp (Hutt), 1 game this season; H. M. Kirschberg (Wellington), 6 games (4 this season, 2 in 1939); S. McNicol (University), 9 games (3 in 1938, 2 in 1939, and 4 this season); F. L. Pearson (Athletic), 3 games this season; G. Posselt (Eastbourne), 1 game this season; C. M. Randall (Oriental), 1 game this season; G. Reynolds (Wellington College O. IB.), 9 games (3 in 1937 and 6 this j season); R. Sanson (Eastbourne), 3 games (1 this season, 2 in 1939); P. J. Stanaway (Marist Bros. O.B.), 3 games [this season; J. B. Thurston (Athletic), 16 games (2 in 1937 and 4 this season).
