THE TRUNK HIGHWAY

OVER 400 MILES NOW SEALED

DUNEDIN, This. Day,

The trunk railway between Dunedin and Bluff is now practically completed. The work involved has mea;at the elimination of dangerous bends, the erection of bridges, including overbridges at railway crossings, and tar sealing. The sealing has been completed from Dunedin as far as Clinton, where there is a gap due to reconstruction which has been taking place over a period of many months. The gangs working from Clinton and from the Waipahi end have now almost met, and so the reconstruction is in its final stages. The sealing will be done as soon as consolidation is complete.

From. Bluff the road has been sealed to lour miles on the northern side of Arthtnrton. As the road north from Dunedin has been sealed, properly bridged, and all bad bends eliminated, to 40 miles north of Christchurch, practically 430 miles of the trunk route afe continuous first-class highway.
