A WORLD TEAM

Mentioning that he was perhaps unlucky" to strike New Zealand Rugby during a lean period, Fred Turner, of the 1937 Springboks, gives a place to only one New Zealand player in a world team which he chooses from those whom he has played with and against since 1933. The New Zealand representative is R. McKenzie. The world team chosen by Turner is—G. Brand (S.A.), J. Kelaher, (Aust.), 3D. Macrae (Scot.), J. Steggall (Aust.), D. Williams (S.A.), B. Osier (S.A.), or T. Harris (S.A.), P. De Villiers (S.A.), V. Geere (S.A.), Travers (Wales), M. M. ("Boy") Louw (S.A.), Mayne (Ireland), Sherriff (S.A.), B, Dv Toit (S.A.), R. McKenzie (N.Z.), A. Hodgson (Aust.). Turner, although' only 26 years of age and on performances good for many years, states that he has given up playing.

A correspondent ' ("Interested") writes asking for the weights of the Wellington Rugby representatives, J. Gillespie and E. L. Todd. In his football togs Todd is 14st- 121b, and Gillespie is 13st 111b. As for the age of the Auckland full-back, W. Hare, about which the Auckland correspondent also inquires, the information is not available, though it is only a matter of a few years ago (in 1937) that this player was promoted to the Auckland representative side as a promising colt, and in the following year he played for the colts' fifteen.
