FEILDING, September 20. Cattle were in strong demand at the Feilding stock sale today, all lines seling well. Sheep were in small supply and attracted little interest. Fat sheep were yarded in fair numbers, but except for wethers the inquiry was quiet. Wethers showed an advance on last week. Extra prime hoggets made 30s to 35s Id; prime 20s 7d; lighter, 18s lOd to 25s 4d: extra prime wethers, 40s to 42s 4d: prime, 34s lOd to 39s 7d; unfinished, 27s lOd to 33s 6d; extra prime ewes 30s. to 35s Id; prime, 25s 4d to 29s 7d: unfinished, 20s lOd to 24s 9d.

Though only a few pens of hoggets were on hand in the store sheep section, the quality was good and they sold well. Best ewe hoggets made 36s 3d to 38s 4d; others 34s to 35s 9d; good wether hoggets, 25s to 25s 2d; poor, 15s lOd; ewes and lambs, all counted, 13s to 13s 3d; fattening ewes. 125.,

Good prices were again paid for select lines of dairy heifers nearing profit. Dairy cows were slightly lower in value. Best springing heifers brought £12 15s to £15 10s; second grade. £9 10s to £12 10s; backward, from £6 ss; heifers in milk, £7 to £9; good springing cows, £10 to £11; later calvers. £7 5s to £9 10s.

Late rates ruled for all beef lines. No heavy sorts were available, though the finish was quite good. Medium prime oxen made £13 17s 6d; light, £10 17s 6d; prime Hereford and A.A. cows £9 17s 6d to £10 17s 6d; lighter. £8 12s 6d to £9 10s; extra prime A.A. heifers, £14 2s 6d; prime, £MMO&. to £12; ex-dairy cows, £5 10s to £7 10s; runners, heavy, £6,7s 6d to £7 7s 6d; lighter. £4 12s 6d to £5 12s 6d. No slackening was shown in either demand or prices for pigs. Weaners sold for 22s 6d; slips, 27s to 28s; stores, £1 13s to £1 18s; porkers. £2 9s. Poultry prices were: Hens, 2s lid to 4s 2d; pullets, 3s 4d to 5s 8d; cockerels, 2s to 2s 7d.
