The Prime Minister (the Rt. Hon. P. Fraser) returned to Wellington from the north last night. Mr. W. A. Bodkin, M.P., and Mr. C. Morgan Williams, M.P., who have been visiting Wellington, have returned to the South Island. Lieutenant-Colonel J. B. Mawson, headmaster of St. Andrew's College, Christchurch, who is leaving for overr.eas, was presented with an engraved gold wristlet watch by members of the Old Boys' Association at a luncheon. In making the presentation, the president (Mr. F. A. Bull) mentioned Lieuj tenant-Colonel Mawson's distinguished record in the Great War. Mr. N. C. Manchester, of the Union Bank of Australia, Christchurch, has been transferred to Greymouth. Brigadier C. Gray, divisional commander of the Salvation Army in Canterbury and Westland, who has been attending a conference in Wellington, has returned to Christchurch. Mr. H. C. Harley, who has been president of the Automobile Association (Canterbury) for the past three years, has retired from that position. He has been succeeded by Mr. C. G. Curtis. Mr. A. S. Holmes and Mr. James Begg, members of the New Zealand Meat Producers' Board, were passengers for the south by the steamer express from Wellington last night. ' Mr. H. D. Acland, Christchurch, president of the New Zealand Sheepowners' Federation,. returned south by the steamer express from Wellington last night. Mr. H. Prowse, who has been connected with the staff' of the Invercargill Borstal Institution for the past eight years, has accepted a position in the North Island and will leave shortly Ito take up duty at Waikeria in the WaiI kato district, states the "Southland News." Whilst resident in Invercargill Mr. Prowse has been prominent in musical and art circles and has organised a number of concerts given by the boys of the Borstal Institution in the Civic Theatre. Largely through his efforts and enthusiasm the Southland Branch of the New Zealand Institute of Public Administration was formed and he has been its secretary since its inception reveral years ago.
