ATTACK ON BERLIN

LONDON, September 4. A German communique states: "British planes flew over Germany last night and attempted to attack Berlin, to which only one plane penetrated. No bombs were dropped in the capital. Bombs fell elsewhere,' but no substantial damage was done." It is claimed in informed quarters m Berlin that four or five British planes were brought down when approaching Be^k aSciar isf okesman in Berlin said that two squadrons of British bombers were seen approaching Berlin from the SStwest tart-night. Only two pierced "the city's anti-aircraft defences and the others turned back,after skirting the suburbs. .
