SOLDIERS' FUNCTION
A bright smoke concert was spent by the members and friends of the 1012 i Heavy Regiment Band at the R.S.A. rooms, Kilbirnie, on Wednesday. After the toast "The King," a. toast was proposed by Lane ;-Bombardier Miller for friends and ex-members of the fort who are in the Third Echelon. Appreciation was expressed by Gunner James Gower for the work and assistance given by the officers to bring the band up to its present efficiency. During the evening musical monologues were given by Mr. Assheton Harbord, tap dancing by Jack Tapp and Noel Walsh, and trumpet solos by Mr. A. Smith. Bandmaster Sergeant Craven made a presentation on behalf of the band to Lieutenant Gibbs, who has been an ardent worker for the band.
Officers present were Major Williamson, Captain Kennedy, Captain Thomas, Captain Redmond, Captain BarnicOat, Lieutenant Gibbs, Lieutenant Mathias, and Lieutenant Smith. The success of the evening was largely due to the organising . efforts of Lance-Bombardier Miller. •
