WORK OF PARLIAMENT
FOUR WEEKS' ADJOURNMENT
With only the Finance Bill No. 2 to dispose of, the House of Representatives was not confronted with a heavy Order Paper for the final day of this stage of the session, and when it eventually passed this measure, the House adjourned at 4.5 p.m. yesterday until 2.30 p.m. ; on Tuesday, October 1.
In moving that the House follow this procedure, the Prime Minister (the Rt. Hon. P. Fraser) said that a four weeks' adjournment appeared to, meet with the wishes of members.
In reply to the Leader of the Opposition (the Hon. Adam Hamilton), Mr. Fraser said that the business of the House, when it resumed, would include an Excess Profits Bill, and a measure dealing with shops to replace the clause withdrawn from the Finance Bill. There would also be the Insurance Companies Bill, which was at present in the hands of the Statutes Revision Committee. "That is all that I can see at the moment," remarked Mr. Fraser. Mr. Hamilton: It will be a short session? I Mr. Fraser: Very short. 1 There is provision for the House to be called together at any time during the adjournment should circumstances warrant it. i
