NATIONAL REGISTER

FIRST PHASE CQMPLETED

| Although the Register, of the First Division of the General Reserve created under the National Service Emergency Regulations 1940 has now been compiled, its maintenance is a task the magnitude of which would probably be scarcely realised by the general public. It must be added to, as men attain the necessary age, it must be subtracted from for a like reason, and on account of the death or enlistment of reservists, and other miscellaneous amendments are continually becoming necessary. By far the most numerous and one of the most important of these amendments is the keeping up-to-date in regard to the residential addresses of reservists.

Any reservist of the First Division who has changed his place of abode between the time when he registered and the present time is required by the regulations to at once notify his present address, by registered letter,, to the Director of National Service, Wellington, and any such reservist wyho subsequently changes his address must send a similar notification within seven days of the change. Heavy penalties are provided for. any failure in this respect. Forms for'the purpose (officially known' as N. 5.9.) are obtainable at all post offices.
