SHIPPING LOSSES
SLIGHTLY OVER THE AVERAGE

(Received August 14, 1.20 pjn.) LONDON, August 13. Mercantile shipipng losses in th» week ended August 4 totalled 75,124 tons, of which 60,058 tons were British, compared with the German claim to have sunk 232,743 tons. -German and Italian losses to August 12 totalled 923,000 tons and 259,000 tons respectively, and there were also 29,500 tons of shipping which was formerly neutral and is now under enemy control. The British losses were slightly above the weekly average.
from north China would make a Japanese, Rear-Admiral Moriji Takeda, commander of the Shanghai defence forces, including the Fourth Regiment of United States Marines. The command goes to the ranking officer in Shanghai.
