"PACIFIST" PAMPHLET

(To the Editor.)

Sir, —"What are we fighting for?" This is the name of a leaflet which is being distributed in Wellington. Who are these people who are creeping about, putting pamphlets into people's letter boxes? Why do they not hold a mass meeting, and so let us have a look at them, and hear them condemn in the open Britain and her system of government? They express their dislike of the "upper classes," namely, members of the British Cabinet, their disapproval of the unity of these men and their kind, who have made Britain the finest Empire in the world. No nation is perfect, but Britain is the nearest to it. These "pacifists" apparently think that there are people on both sides (no doubt themselves) who can solve all problems

[ Who are these people who are endeavouring to lower the morale of the people? Are they trying to assist Hitler out of kindness of heart, or is he paying them for it? What right have they to live amongst, and on, loyal workers, writing their disloyal Iprattle on paper made by loyal hands, trying to filter their way through the community like "fifth columnists," but under the name of "pacifists"? To work for peace in time of war is disloyalty to our King and Empire, under whose flag we are proud to live, and which with our continued effort shall always fly over us. As these "pacifists" apparently so dislike Britain, why do they remain under her protection? While the best type of young man in this country is away fighting for us, or preparing to do so, these "pacifists" are trying to make discontent among the people, and so prevent the constant work required by all to keep these men and nurses supplied with their needs, and Great Britain with our produce.—l am, etc., " BRITON.
