ASSESSMENT COURT
REPRESENTATIVE OF
RATEPAYERS
Mr. Dunbar Sloane, J.P., was this morning elected the representative of ratepayers upon the Assessment Court for the consideration and determining of valuations of city properties. Under the Valuations Act the election is held
at three-year periods under the chairmanship of the clerk of the local authority, Mr. E. P. Norman in the case of Wellington. Only ratepayers in their own right may vote.
There were two candidates, the polling being: Mr. Sloane 99 votes, Mr. R. C. Burton 58 votes.
\ Mr. Sloane has practised as a valuer for sixteen years. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Valuers and a member '■of the North Island Valuers' Association.
