WORK OF SESSION

EARLY ADJOURNMENT

POSSIBLY TOMORROW NIGHT

Through a rearrangement of the Government's programme it is likely that the session will be adjourned much earlier than anticipated, possibly after tomorrow night's sitting of the House of Representatives. The Government does not intend to ask the House to rush its remaining programme. For instance, the Finance Bill is not to be introduced until the House resumes, but amendments to the Rural Housing Bill will make their appearance this week.

The Local Legislation Bill is to be deferred until the House resumes after the adjournment, in order to give local bodies an opportunity to make any representations they think necessary.

When the House adjourns it is possible that it will not meet again for two or possibly three weeks.
