BRAZIL SENDS SUGAR

A reply to the.telegram from Senor Carlos Pueyrredom expressing the solidarity of the Argentine Pro-Ally Committee, receipt of which has given great pleasure to British people, has been sent by the Premier, Mr. Churchill, as follows:— "Thank you so much for your kind ! message. Coming from our friends in the Argentine Republic, our secular ties with which are so highly valued, its tribute to the steadfastness of our people and the efficiency of the armed forces of the Crown is especially welcome and encouraging. "Backed by a united Empire, we* are j resolved to pursue to a victorious conclusion the struggle against Nazidom and all that it implies for the whole world, and thereby ensure the firm establishment of the principles of decency and Christian civilisation. The good wishes and support of our friends across the seas greatly heartens us in the discharge of the task which lies before us." The Brazilian Rsd Cross has sent a gift of approximately 31,000 pounds of sugar to the Red Cross and St. John Ambulance war organisations for use in service hospitals in Britain.
