RHODES FROM STOUT LINE
Rhodes, who was a hot favourite for the maiden event at Awapuni last Saturday but failed to show up from a wide marble, is one who may improve before long. A member of L. Knapp's team, he is a three-year-old gelding by Colossus out of the Warplane—Canella mare Vinella, a halfsister to Cinnamon, the dam of Pahu (who was by Warplane), Pango, Miss Pango, and Hirangi, all of whom could gallop well and were also much at home on winter going.
