SUPPLIES OF BARLEY
! A letter received by Mr. W. J. ! Poison M.P., from the Minister of I Marketing (the Hon. W. Nash) gives [an assurance that everything possible is being done to procure necessary supplies of barley from Australia to meet New Zealand's increased demands arising from higher pig production. There was still a balance available, Mr. Nash stated, either in stock in New Zealand or to be shipped from Australia, of 111,504 sacks, and it was considered this would be sufficient to cover requirements till the new season's barley became available in Australia next January. Values had been arranged on the basis of f.o.b. prices, plus reasonable costs of transport and handling.
