BANK FOR REFUGEES
A special bank with a capital''of £30,000,000 is being established in Mexico City for the benefit of Spanish, refugees. The capital will ba obtained from a transfer of Spanish Republican capital now deposited in banks in Mexico and other democratic countries. Senor Indalescio Prieto, the former Republican Minister, suggested the establishment of the new bank when he visited Mexico for talks with President Cardenas. The bank i to be an entirely private enterprise, and is intended to provide loans to rehabilitate Spanish refugees—of whom there are now 6000 in Mexico, with 30,000 more expected—and assist them in the establishment of new enterprises.
