Her Excellency Lady Galway presided at a meeting of the general committee of the Lady Galway Patriotic Guild held at Government House, yesterday morning. Yesterday afternoon Lady Galway was present at a redeption tendered to her by the members of the Wellington Travel Club. -
Mr. T. Lock was elected president of the Wellington Bowling Centre for a second term at the^ annual • meeting last evening.
Mr. W. A. Blair, former secretary and foundation member of ,the City of Wellington Highland Pipe, Band, who has joined the Military Forces, was farewcl Ted by membersooff f the band on Saturday last. The vice-president of the band, Mr. J. W: Brown, and several officers paid tribute to the work of Mr. Blair. A suitable presentation: was made. :

The Rev. L. B; Neale, 8.A., F.R.H.S., president of the Methodist Church of New Zealand, arrived in Wellington, this morning from Dunedin. The Rev.' Mr. Neale will address a united inspirational rally in Wesley Church, Taranaki Street, this evening 'at 8 o'clock.
Mr f H. M. Goldstein has resumed his duties as honorary ophthalmologist at the Auckland Hospital after extended leave spent abroad. '■'■ ]

Mr. Jacob member of - the Railways Superannuation Board, will be a passenger for Auckland by the .express this -afternoon. * Mr. A. H. Cockayne, Director-General of Agriculture, will leave for the south tonight. Professor F. N. White will leave for the south by tonight's steamer express. The death is reported from Liverpool of Mr. Peter" Robertson, senior partner in Messrs. Marwood and Robertson, of Liverpool, who have, for a great number of years, represented the Federal Steam Navigation Co., Ltd!, and The New Zealand Shipping Co., Ltd., in Liverpool and Manchester.
