MORE WAR PRODUCTION
PLANS IN BRITAIN
EXTERNAL SUPPLY SOURCES
I . LONDON, July 5. In view of the possibility of air raids slowing down production in Britain, the Ministry of Supply is working out comprehensive plans to increase war production in Britain, also in the United States, the Dominions, and India. A proposal is being considered for making India the headquarters of the Eastern half of the Empire. New factories are being planned, but the Ministry is also doing its utmost to draw from the vast industrial resources of the United States and Canada. An idea is also being examined of standardising types of arms equipment common in Britain and the United States, in order to save time and money. A far greater output can be expected from India, whose present great war effort will be supplemented by technicians and machine tools. The whole plan of the Ministry is based on getting as many external sources of supply as are available for necessary supplementation of the intensive British war effort. '
