BRITISH BLOCKADE
ISLAND OF MARTINIQUE
CONCERN OVER DEL!YERY OF PLANES

WASHINGTON, July 5. French. sources report that the French island of Martinique is blockaded by British cruisers and that fighting might be imminent.
It is stated that the island authorities have taken side with Marshal Petain. The British, it is declared, sought to prevent a shipment of American planes which has been delivered in the island from California falling into German hands.
There are some French submarines and smaller craft, a force of French marines, andsome French gold at Martinique.
It is reported that the American planes have not been removed from the crates. It is suggested that they r.iight be used in the event of a fight.
Martinique is well inside the PanAmerican neutrality zone.
