DIVISION OF SENIOR TEAMS
QUALIFICATION FOR CHAMPIONSHIP
Teams in the Wellington senior first division Rugby competition will reach the crossroads next Saturday* It will then be for the first six to go on in quest of the championship title and the other six to play for the Hardham Cup. The first round has this season been one of the most eventful on record, the element of surprise being so great that no team could go out to meet any engagement with a sense of security. From an unpromising beginning, Eastbourne have had a run of successes; Oriental have shown that they are not to be taken lightly; Wellington College Old Boys, much lower than usual on the ladder, brought off the big surprise last Saturday in beating Wellington; and so the competition has gone along, with something really eventful pretty well every Saturday. Athletic, Wellington, and Poneke were assured of places in the first six before meeting today's engagements. The positions of others were still left to be i determined by results today or next Saturday.
