PALMERSTON N., July 5. Comprising mainly springing Jersey heifers and cows, a capacity yarding of cattle was forward at the sale conducted in Rongotea this week. Approximately 50 dairy cows were penned, and for those guaranteed and close to profit ready sales were in evidence. The usual entry of fat and boner cows came forward. The tat cattle sold at prices fully up to late realisations, but the boners were not in such keen demand, odd lots being passed. Prices are: Weaner heifers, i£2 5s to £3 Is; springing heifers, £5 10s to £13 ss; July calving dairy cows, !£6 to £9 15s; later calvers, £5 to £7 15s: seven cows on account of F. J. Thomson, £7 5s to £9 15s; fat cows, £4 15s to £7; boner cows, £1 10s to £3 17s 6d; bulls, £5 15s. A large entry of pigs was forward at the sale in this centre. Porkers were keenly sought. A total clearance was effected at prices in excess of those of last week. A fair supply of poultry was offered, and late rates were maintained. Prices are:—Pigs: Best weaners to 265, medium 20s to 235; slips, 27s 6d to 295; stores, 30s to 375; heavy porkers, 49s to 60s, medium 40s to 465; sows and litters, £4 10s to £8 15s. Poultry: Best W.L. hens, 3s to 2s 6d each; 8.0. hens, 4s to 5s each; light, Is to 2s each; breeding hens, to 5s 4d each; pullets, to 8s 6d each; heavy cockerels, 4s to 5s 3d each; medium, 3s 6d to 4s each; breeding cockerels, 5s to 8s 6d each; young ducks, 4s to 5s 6d each, old 3s to 3s 6d each; turkeys, 6s 6d to 10s each; geese, 4s 4d each.
