"Gardener," Newiowri.—it is best to apply and fork in the lime some three weeks before plittirig on the manure. If applied at the sanie time the lirae releases the ammonia, which escapes into the atm'ds'ph^re aha is lost. Lime will not do any harm to violets; but do not give it to daphne.
