N.Z. ASSOCIATION

At the annual meeting of the New Zealand Table Tennis Association the chairman (Mr. W. Barker) stated that the past year had been ja very eventful one as it included the first (overseas tour and the holding of the championships in the South Island. The game was [now well established and was proving very popular in the military camps and he hoped that all the associations would assist the authorities in providing facilities and information. The visit of the New Zealand team to Australia had been a complete success jand had paved the way for friendly negotiations iand reciprocal visits in the future. The visit was made possible by the generous donation by Jlr H. N. Smith (England), the associa- ? nJ t delesate on the International Federation of Table Tennis.

The financial position was not very satisfactory owing to the continual drain on the funds for the further establishment of the game. Twenty associations were affiliated or being affiliated.

The election of officers resulted:—Patron his Excellency the Governor-General; president Mr. H. W. Bryen (Auckland); vice-presidents, Messrs. H. D. Kennedy, W. J. Gillies F T McAneny (Auckland), C. Ennis (Stratford)' A. Marshall (Lower Hutt), B. A. Barrer (Christchurch), S. Robson (Invercargill), R L. Eames (Timam), E. Casey (Wellington), J. H. D. Miller (Dunedin), and other presidents of affiliated associations; chairman of [executive, Mr. A. Marshall; secretary-treasurer, lair. H. N. Ballinger; committee, Messrs. L. j Wilson, H. Osborn, O. Heketa, K. Longmore VV. Barker, T. S. Williams; auditor, Mr. O A Ohlson; delegate to 1.T.T.F., Mr. H. N. Smith ; Tournaments were allocated as follows :—Centennial championships, Wellington; North •island championships, Taranaki; South Island championships, Canterbury. In connection with the war effort by table tennis players several delegates outlined activities in their various districts.
