NAZIS OVER ENGLAND
CASUALTIES REPORTED

RUGBY, July 2,
A communique issued by the Air Ministry and the Home Secretary tonight states: "Enemy aircraft carried out raids on the north-east coast of England this evening. Bombs fell in two towns and on the outskirts of a third. A number of casualties have been reported. Enemy aircraft also dropped bombs in open country in the south-west of England. So far as is known at present, there were no casualties in this area."
It was announced later that casualties in north-eastern towns were three killed and about 60 injured.
