ADVICE TO CIVILIANS ABOUT

BOMBINGS

It may have significance in connection with Hitlerfs alleged intention of invading Britain that the Nazis have begun using against her tactics that they successfully exploited against the other countries which Germany has invaded—tactics of trying to confuse the civilian population in preparation for military action. Last night a self-styled "N(*w British Broadcasting Company," which is the German short-wave station operating from Germany that a few days ago excelled itself in a lurid picture of a German invasion of England, using more secret weapons personally invented by Hitler, issued a solemn warning to English men and women that in the event of the town where they live being bombarded during the invasion their only hope of survival was to flee. "You, your wife, and your children must go anywhere out of danger," it stated. The residents were warned to have ready cash about them. As the British Government has urged upon the public for some time the necessity for precisely the opposite behaviour' and has seen that they are well aware of the lessons learned in Belgium and France of the grave embarrassment in having roads filled with refugees, and of the appalling results of the attacks which, in order to increase the confusion, the German airmen are instructed to make upon these unhappy people whom German-inspir-ed statements have sought to drive from their homes, there is very little chance of such propaganda having the desired effect here.
