EMPIRE MAT TITLE
John Katan, the Alberta wrestler, has not yet succeeded in lifting tha British Empire professional title off Earl. McCready, something which, he came to New Zealand with the* intention of doing, but neither has he been beaten in his two attempts. At the Wellington Town Hall on Monday night he will make another effort, and he is confident that this time there will be ;no mistake about it. He was so keen to get the matter settled, as a matter |of fact, that he wanted to have the [bout staged'on a wrestle-to-a-finish basis, but it was not possible to' a.'range this, and he will now have the usual time of eight eight-minute rounds in which to do what he can. There is no doubt anywhere that Katan is one of the best wrestlers ever brought to this country, and the only defeat he has suffered, so far this season was the result of a penalty fall. As McCready is the only other visitor who can show such a record it is evident that Monday's bout represents the best match that could be arranged at the present time.
