STUDENTS' RECITAL

Given in aid of the Sick, Wounded, and Distress Fund, last night's recital by pupils of Mrs. Mackay attracted a large and appreciative audience to the Concert Chamber. A high standard was maintained throughout 'a programme chosen with discrimination. The numbers ranged from classics to modern compositions for the piano, and the students interpreting them showed distinct musical ability and understanding. The following took part:—Misses Ann Ross, Freda Porter, Josephine Gilmer, Huia McLeod, Olive Gayford, Olive Fordham, Kora Long, Edna Gorrie, Tui McLeod, Merle Green, Margaret Holm, Shirley Craig, Jocelyn Walker, Myra Nichol, Ngaire Highet. Linda Cooper, Alice Reid, Lyla Brady, Messrs. L. Souness, P. Magill, J. Crawford, F. Reid.

As the result of a fall while playing at the Lower Hutt School yesterday afternoon, Doreen Gilbertson, aged 12, 11 Brook Street, Lower Hutt, received a fractured left arm. The Free Ambulance took her to hospital.
