The Hon. W. Hayward, M.L.C., will leave by the steamer express* for the south tonight after a one-day visit to Wellington. Dr. John Barron, M.8., F.R.C.S., son of Mr. and Mrs. W. N. Barron, Hayelock North, has been appointee assistant to Sir Harold Gillies, the noted plastic surgeon, according to cabled advice received from London by Mr. and Mrs. Barron. .Mr. W. H. Gledhill, Wellington, director of the Pearl Assurance Company, Ltd., has relinquished this appointment to join the Wellington office of the General Assurance Corporation, Ltd., Perth (Scotland). Mr. H. Gladstone Hill, who is well known in musical circles throughout the Dominion, has been granted a temporary commission in the Air Force in. the rank of Flight Lieutenant and has bp»n appointed bandmaster of the , j is^^l N.Z; Air Force Band, and Direc . tor of Music to the R.N.Z.A.F. Flight Lieutenant Hill succeeds Flijht Lieutenant T. J. Kirk-Burnnand, who is now serving with the Expeditionary Force. Mr. Justice O'Regan and his associate, Mr. A. Magnussen, will travel by air to Blenheim tomorrow on Compensation Court business, and will return to Wellington later in the day. Commander Denhistoun, Peel Forest, arrived from Auckland this morning, and is staying at the Hotel Waterloo. He leaves for the South Island tonight. Captain C. N. Devery, D.C.M., New Zealand Temporary Staff, Central District Headquarters, Wellington,* has been appointed Assistant AdjutantGeneral, Central Military District, andpromoted to the rank of major.
