SENT TO BORSTAL
An order that Francis William George Reeves, aged 20, a labourer, be detained in a Borstal institution for two years was made in the Supreme | Court today by the Chief Justice (Sir Michael Myers), who remarked that the case was one in which such detention was particularly appropriate. Reeves appeared for sentence after pleading. guilty in the Magistrate's Court at Wellington to stealing £230 in notes from beneath the pillow of a sleeping room-mate at Island Bay. His Honour said that at the institution to which he would recommend Reeves's committal tehe latter would have an opportunity of learning a i trade which would be useful to him j when he left. Mr. A. B. Sievwright appeared for the prisoner.
