BRITISH CHILDREN
ADOPTION SCHEME
, Approval has been given by the Lower Hutt Borough Council to the scheme outlined by the Mayor of Napier that New Zealand should offer hospitality and, if necessary, permanent adoption in individual homes to 25,000 British children. A petition to that effect has gone to Parliament from Lower Hutt citizens. The Mayor of Lower Hutt, Mr. J, W. Andrews, in placing the matter before his council last evening, said he had the assurance, of the Mayor of Napier that the scheme would apply only to orphans.
