TRAIL OF CHAOS

R.A.F. DAYLIGHT RAIDS

DAMAGE AND CONFUSION

VISITS TO GERMANY

(By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright.) (Received June 10, 1.45 p.m.) LONDON, June 9. During daylight raids over the Bresle-Somme region the R.A.F. scattered transport columns, bombed lines of tanks, armoured units, and motorlorries. They also machine-gunned troops, silenced anti-aircraft batteries, blew up a petrol dump, and caused chaos at many points behind the enemy lines. Some of the planes came down to within 150 feet and1 raked their objective* with machine-guns, causing' great confusion. On one occasion the mere appearance of the raiders threw the enemy into confusion. A detachment of cavalry stampeded on the approach of the British planes. R.A.F. planes also set fire to an oil storage plant at Valenciennes, spread fires in Imarshalling yards near Essen, Duren, and Euskirchen, blocked the mouth io£ a tunnel at Vise, and demolished a railway bridge.
