AUCKLAND'S INCREASE
In spite of the loss of the King's Birthday holiday, the Auckland Racing Club's Winter Meeting proved very successful and the result exceeded expectations. Most people were prepared for a fall in the totalisator turnover and the increase of £2073 10s in the returns was surprising, in view of all the circumstances. However, the turnover last year was affected to some extent by the very wet weather on the third day, when the attendance was below the average. V.
