Swifts defeated Technical Old Boys by 5 goals to 3at Kelburn Park. On the day's showing the score was a good indication of the respective merits of the teams. Neither side treated the few spectators who braved the weather to a good display of the code. Play was consistently ragged with occasional brighter individual efforts. Swifts, however, followed up much better than their opponents and lost no opportunities tw bombard the goal. Technical Old Boys frequently lost good scoring positions by unnecessary passing, thus giving the opposition defence time to form up het°TeJ. shot at goal was attempted. The wet and Ireasy ball was difficult to control In the fairly strong northerly breeze blowing across the field, but this did not excuse some of the bad passing by men in both teams. They seemed to kick first and then look afterwards to ccc who received the ball. Both teams showed themselves to be fit by maintaining a fast pace throughout thßoalT ewere scored foi- Swifts by Chapman, Hldmott (2), Baker, and P. McGregor, and for Technical Old Boys by Liddicoat, Molr, and NM? atE.' J. Gates controlled the game in the absence of the selected referee, Mr. F. Dean, who did not put in an appearance.
