MILITARY WEDDING

NELSONIANS IN LONDON

On April 26, the marriage took place at Bagborough, West Somerset, of Captain Oliver Charles Hay Burton, 16th Field Regiment R.A., 8.E.F., France, second son of Colonel H. C. H. Burton, late R.A., Nelson, and Miss Janet Mary Moore, younger daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Philip Moore, The Rocks, Nelson. The bridegroom is a nephew of Brigadier-General A. G. Arbuthnot, C.M.G., D.5.0., of Higher House, Bagborough. The bride, accompanied by her sister, left New Zealand on February 20 and reached London on April 15. The wedding was fixed for April 23, but leave from France was still closed on that day, and. the wedding had to be postponed. The bridegroom flew over from France. The ceremony at St. Pancras Church, which attracted a great deal of interest in the village and neighbourhood, was performed by the Rector, the Rev. G. Tuckermann. The service was choral, the organist being Mr. W. H. Esdaile. The bride's dress was of cream crepe de chine, embroidered with silver medallions, cut on graciously classic lines. She carried a bouquet of lilies,' tulips, and carnations. Her veil was caught to the head with a spray of orange blossom. Miss Novi Moore, sister of the bride, was in attendance dressed in turquoise blue ninon over taffeta. Her bouquet consisted of pink and mauve carnations, tulips, and other flowers. Mrs. A. G. Arbuthnot (aunt of the bridegroom) represented the bride's mother, and the bride was given away by BrigadierGeneral Arbuthnot. Mr. R. A. H. Burton, brother of the bridegroom, acted as best man. . A reception was held at Higher House, and later in the day Captain and Mrs. Burton left for Torquay for the honeymoon. The bride travelled in an ensemble of ice blue with coat and hat to match, pjrune accessories, and fox fur.
