JOCKEYS' PREMIERSHIP

SYDNEY, May 2,
W. Cook has set up a decided lead on the jockeys' list with 85 winners and two dead-heaters. E. McMenamin occupies second place with 77£, his two months' suspension having proved costly. D. Munro, although he has had only 243 mounts, has the creditable total of 58 wins and two dead heats. As Cook can ride at 7.6 he has many more opportunities and has had 438 mounts already this season.
Dermid, winner of the Cantala Stakes in 1931. was destroyed at Rosehill yesterday when contesting his 127 th race. This eleven-year-old gelding has had many ups and downs and recently was sold for £26. He won a racfi a fortnight ago for his new owner at Canterbury Park. He crashed badly, at Rosehill, breaking a foreleg and dislocating his neck!, He was put out of pain very speedily.
