OBITUARY
MISS LAURA BUNTING,

AUCKLAND, May 11
The death occurred this evening of Miss Laura Bunting, for the past 11 years lady editor.of the "New Zealand \ Herald." Miss Bunting was born in Mere Wiltshire, England, and as a "girl was brought to New Zealand, where she lived in the Wairarapa. On the. establishment of the "Dominion," Wellington, Miss Bunting joined the staff as assistant to the lady editor, Miss Isitt, whom she later succeeded. There, in addition to her' professional duties*, she took a personal interest in many organisations, particularly women's societies. From the "Dominion" Miss Bunting made an extensive tour of Australia and India and other Eastern countries. She was extremely interested in this part of the world and became a keen collector of Eastern art. On her return to New Zealand from this tour she was appointed lady editor of the "Herald."
She was a member of a Masterton family, and leaves two sisters, Miss Elizabeth Bunting and Mrs. J. L. Lucena.
Miss Bunting had been in ill health for some time and her death occurred at her residence, Herne Bay,. The funeral will be private.
