CONFIRMATORY REPORT
Attack Supported by Tanks

LONDON, April 22. The Norwegian Legation in Stockholm confirms the recapture of both Hamar and Elverum by British and Norwegian troops, supported by tanks.
It is learned that there have been practically no losses of British troops in Norway from air attacks. $ The Norwegians continue to hold their line near Lake Mjosen.
A Stockholm message says that reports from the frontier state that British and German troops are fighting at Vaerdalsoren, north-east of Trondheini, at the junction of th.s road • from Trondheim to Grong with the road to the Swedish frontier. , Swedish correspondents say' that reports of fighting 'between Namsos and Grong are incorrect, and affirm that Namios was severely damaged by German bombers, some civilians being,in3nred.
The German High Command reports: *'Enemy naval vessels yesterday again bombarded Narvik, but no troops were landed. The German forces in the Trondheim area have reached important points. No serious fighting ias occurred. Contact has been established between the land, forces operating in the Oslo; Kristiansand, and Stavanger areas. A British destroyer was hit' by a bomb. Two Allied merchantmen and two submarines were destroyed. Eight Allied planes were brought down in Norway and on the Western Front. Three German planes are missing. Gjoevik and Lillehammer, on Lake have been captured."
The official German news agency says: "German planes bombed and set fire to Namsos and Andalsnes. The British positions at Namsos were b.ombed for six hours."
