British Troops Now in Eastern Theatre

Recapture of Hamar

British troops are now fighting in eastern Norway, according to a Norwegian communique, which adds: "Norwegian troops, tairing up new positions, maintained contact with the enemy. German tan]ks were destroyed in Rands Fiord. The Germans bombed Rena and Osen, north of Elverum. Fifty parachuting Germans were captured near Domaas." A War Office communique states: "Operations in Norway are continuing, and the British troops are operating in conjunction with the Norwegian forces.'' Swedish sources report that Allied and German troops are fighting at Namsos. The Stockholm newspaper " Aftonbladet" says that British forces recaptured Hamar last night. English and French tanks participated. The German news agency states: "Enemy naval forces on April 20 shelled Narvik, which is still in German hands." A joint Admiralty and War Office communique states that there was considerable enemy air activity at Namsos yesterday and that many bombs were dropped, extensively damaging the town. The only Allied loss was one British trawler. There were no casualties among Allied troops. The Air Ministry stated that strong forces of the R.A.P. last night bombed aerodromes occupied by the Germans at Kristiansand and Stavanger. A number of enemy aeroplanes were seen dispersed on the aerodrome at Kristiansand', and they were bombed. Bombs were also dropped on the Stavanger aerodrome, and a number of them were seen to hit the runways. The bursting of another bomb was f olknved by an explosion on the aerodrome. Bombs were also dropped on a seaplane base nearby. -
