THORNDON CIRCUIT
There: was a'good attendance.- of ot-> \ 'fice-beafers- £#ffie qtia&erly;; meeting: "of the Thorndon Methodist Circuit held] in the Karori Church recently. Thej ■Rev. R.-B. Gosnell presided. The newly-appointed financial steward, Mr. R. E. Flaws, presented a Statement of accounts, which showed a satisfactory position. Very successful harvest festival services had been, held at each of the; churches in the: circuit: The Home Mission deputation would be present in the circuit during May, and Youth Sunday would be held in June, when a retiring collection would be taken on behalf of the youth work., '-■■. :•'. j Mention was made of the fact that j a number of young men-from the circuit had left with the' First Echelon and that others were at present in Messrs. W^Gfeen, H. Hart, H. Dickson, M. Roberts, E. Slyfield, and L. Noakes were approved as fully-ac-credited local preachers. The chairman reported on a number of matters arising out of the recent1 conference of the Methodist Church held at Dunedin. These included the manifesto on peace and war, the appeal for the chaplaincy fund, and details about the. raising of the special Centennial thanksgiving fund of £50,000. . -. •-. •
