RED CROSS WORK
A meeting of the Paraparaumu subI centre of the Red Cross Society was [held recently for the purpose of electing a committee which would be re- | sponsible for the local organisation and control of the Dominion-wide appeal on behalf of the Red Cross Society and the St. John Ambulance Society, which lis to begin early in May. Mr. W. H. Potts was elected chairman of the committee and Mr. A. Hardham treasurer, and when the rest of the committee had been elected it speedily began its work.' It was decided that the main effort of the appeal would be a house-to-house canvass of the district for subscriptions, and a number of those present at the meeting immediately volunteered as collectors. Many other suggestions were received by the committee for the furtherance of the appeal, and these will be considered at the next meeting of the committee on May 3.
