HUTT RIVER ESTUARY
The control of certain boat sheds on the Petone side of the Hutt River estuary was discussed at a meeting of the Hutt River Board on Friday. The secretary, Mr. A. J. Gearing, stated that he had asked the board's engineer to prepare a plan and the plan showed that control of the area probably, was in the hands of the Petone Borough Council. The board decided to forward a copy of the plan to the Petone Council to ascertain if the council desired to assume control. The secretary- ..reported - that, the question had.. been. raised through a/ split in the Hutt Valley Motor-boat ■' Association, which had resulted in a separate body, the Hutt Valley' Launch Owners' Association, being formed. The latter body was asking the board to drive mooring piles in.the river. . It was decided that provided this body could obtain the permission of the Petone Borough Council, the Marine Department, and all others interested, the board was prepared to do the work, the cost to be chargeable to the association.
